Restaurant Sonnenhof Saanen – The End of an Era

In the summer of 1999, we took over the “Sonnenhof” as tenants from Liliane Berchtold. Later, together with Bach Immobilien AG and Matti Immobilien AG, we were able to purchase the property in October 2003.
Our sincere thanks go to Marcel Bach, Walter and Daniel Matti for their many years of partnership and for the trust they consistently placed in us. Over the past 27 years, we have had the pleasure of welcoming countless guests.

We look back on a wonderfully fulfilling, yet demanding time, marked by many meaningful encounters, friendships, and unforgettable moments.

We devoted a great deal of dedication and passion to the restaurant, the garden, and the flowers, spending countless hours and days during the off-season caring for and maintaining the surroundings. Time moves on and circumstances change. Recruiting staff, the increasingly hectic and energy-draining daily routine, and the long hours of presence eventually became a considerable burden and showed us our limits. It is important to remain sensible and to take care of our health. With heavy hearts, and contrary to what we had hoped, we have decided not to reopen the “Sonnenhof” this summer or continue operating it under our management in the future.

We would like to sincerely thank all our guests for their loyalty and appreciation. We also extend our gratitude to our suppliers and business partners for the many years of pleasant cooperation, trust, and understanding. A very special thank-you naturally goes to our employees, especially Christine von Siebenthal, who has accompanied us at the “Sonnenhof” since the very beginning.

With deep gratitude, we bid farewell after 54 successful summer and winter seasons. We are now looking forward to a new chapter in life with fewer obligations and responsibilities. We look forward to spending more time with family, nurturing friendships and social connections, and enjoying life at a different pace.
